Born on site. Not in a software house.
Struqia started as the in-house tool of a Portuguese construction company. It was built to solve its owner’s own problems, project by project, and only later became a product.
Anyone who runs a small construction company knows the scene: the job goes well, people work, the client is happy — and the office is a pile of spreadsheets only one person understands. The estimate on one sheet, the measurement on another, the invoicing on a third, and the same item written out three times, with three slightly different values.
It was like that for years. The tools that existed were either designed for contractors with an admin department — expensive, heavy, with mandatory training — or generic invoicing packages that had never heard of a progress valuation, a retention, or a variation.
It started small: one place where the estimate and the measurement spoke the same language. Then came the valuations, because that is where money was lost. Then the invoices — prepared from the valuation and followed until they were paid — because retyping everything into the invoicing package made no sense. Then the AI reading floor plans and measuring, because measuring by hand is the part that eats the whole afternoon. And then the site manager’s phone, because the site had to report back without anyone writing an email.
Each block went in because it solved a problem that hurt on site — not because it looked good on a feature list. That is why Struqia has strangely specific things, such as the construction reverse charge handled from the outset, and does not have things everybody has and nobody uses.
After a while it was obvious the problem was not only mine. Other contractors, with companies the same size, were spending exactly the same evenings on exactly the same spreadsheets. Struqia stopped being an in-house tool and became a product — but it is still used, every day, in the company where it was born. That is the best quality control there is: if it does not work for running real jobs, you notice on Monday morning.
Five stages, five problems solved.
A spreadsheet that no longer coped
Estimates, measurements and invoicing in separate files, with the same item written three times. An error got into one and survived to the end of the job.
Estimate and valuation in the same language
The first real system: the item is written once and travels through the whole job, from the estimate to the month’s valuation.
The AI that measures floor plans
No more measuring by hand. The dimensioned plan goes in, the bill of quantities comes out — and the contractor only has to review it.
The site fits in a pocket
The site manager app on the phone: progress, photos and materials logged where things happen, with no prices on display.
From in-house tool to product
Struqia opens to other construction companies, by invitation, with the first project set up alongside each of them.
Projects delivered on time.
If the deadline is six months, the project takes six months — not twelve. Struqia exists so that no project misses its deadline through lack of organisation.
In construction, a project delivered on time is the exception. The cause is rarely the work itself: it is the office — a wrong measurement, a variation that was never invoiced, a deadline nobody saw go by. Struqia takes care of that part so the time can be managed where it counts: on site.

Three rules we don’t negotiate.
The AI proposes, you decide
Nothing is saved without human confirmation. The AI does the dull work of measuring and transcribing; signing it off is always down to whoever runs the job.
Built for small companies
We are not going to grow into serving large contractors and leave behind the people who run everything themselves. If a feature only makes sense with an admin department, it does not go in.
